Canisy Poodles was established in 1998 by me, Sally Roberts, and my eldest daughter, Antonia Fillingim. Canisy Poodles is a small, family oriented breeding program dedicated to the betterment of the breed. Although we have had a relatively small number of litters, we have based our program on the guidance of our mentors, many of whom have been breeding for 40 years or more. Our dogs come from some of the best lines in the history of the breed, and we spare no expense in ensuring that we breed and raise dogs that will continue to improve upon the great accomplishments of breeders before us.

Canisy Poodles is based in the hills of Alamo, California, where we breed our Standards. My daughter, Antonia, does some breeding of Miniatures at her 3-acre facility in Stockton, California. Antonia spends the majority of her time dedicated to poodle grooming and professional handling of these incredible dogs at AKC dog shows throughout the Western United States.

As most reputable breeders, our goal is to produce dogs that we would want to include as part of our family and to share our home. To us, this means a dog that is of sound temperament, healthy, intelligent, loyal, and models the AKC standard of excellence.
We personally understand the devastation of losing a beloved dog to a terminal disease. Our efforts to ensure a healthy breeding program not only include all the genetic testing listed below, but to have an honest, solid relationship with the other breeders involved in our program. All of our standard poodle breeding stock is tested for Hips, VonWillebrands, Sebaceous Adenitis, Eyes and Thyroid. Our Miniatures are tested for PRA and Hips.

To better understand exactly what our genetic test results mean, we encourage you to go to our links for the Poodle Health Registry, Orthopedic Foundation of America, and the Poodle Club of America. Whether you purchase a puppy from Canisy or not, we believe you can make a solid, intelligent choice by being well informed in all aspects of this magnificent breed.
